Why are your prices so much lower than other shapers / surf shops? Our prices are low because our overhead is low. Since we don't operate out of a store, we don't have to pass on the cost of rent and wages to you.

Why should I buy from you? Quality, service, and price. We're so sure that you'll be happy with your new surfboard that we'll shape you a new one or give you your money back if you're not. You won't find that type of guarantee from any other surfboard company in Hawaii.

Why should I wait for a custom board when I can get one off the rack at my local surf shop today? Many surf shops will try to sell a board that most closely matches a surfers needs. But sometimes the stock inventory doesn't have the best board for the surfer and the surfer ends up with a board that isn't right for them. For many surfers, especially the more experienced, it's very possible that you can find a surfboard with the exact dimensions you are looking for on the rack. But even then, you have to ask yourself a few questions. Does it have the artwork I want? Is it at a price I'm willing to pay? Is there a guarantee that I'll get my money back if I don't like it?

How long before I get my new board? Boards are started after a 50% deposit is received and are normally ready 3-4 weeks after that.

How long do I have to pick up my board? Once you have been notified that your board is ready, you have 60 days to pay the remainder of the balance and accept delivery of the board. After 60 days, the board will be sold and your deposit and any other payments will be forfeited.

Do you have any new boards in stock? No, we do not normally carry any new boards in stock.

How do I get my board? If you're on O'ahu, we'll deliver it to your door. In some cases, you can pick it up directly from the Surfboard Factory in Wahiawa. Off O'ahu, it will be shipped to you.

What if I don't like my board? If you haven't ridden it yet, you have 30 days for a full refund or exchange. You have 7 days after receipt to ride it and still be eligible for a full exchange or partial refund. See our guarantee for full details.

Why is there a $50 usage fee on returned boards that have been riden? We stand by the quality and performance of our surfboards and are very confident that you'll be happy with your new board. The $50 USD usage fee is to prevent customers from abusing our return policy as a method to "rent" a surfboard for free. The usage fee is waived on exchanges. See our guarantee for full details.

What's the minimum dimensions for a "competition" longboard? Both the ASP and NSSA rule books state the dimensions for their longboard division as Length is minimum 9 feet measured from the nose to tail on the deck of the surfboard. Width dimensions to total minimum 47 inches aggregate. This is the total of the widest point, plus the width 12 inches up from the tail and the width 12 inches back from the nose.

How do you measure the length of a surfboard? There is no industry standard for measuring surfboard length. Many surfboard shapers measure the length from nose to tail along the bottom of the surfboard, taking rocker into account. This typically is 1/2" - 1" longer than measuring on the deck. This is why a typical thruster marked as a 6'1" might only be 6'0" when measured from the deck. We use this method for measuring length of short boards, fun boards, semi-guns, and guns. Since many competitive surfing organizations measure using the deck method (see FAQ above), we use the deck method for measuring longboards. So if you order a 9'0" longboard from us, it will be 9'0" from nose to tail as measured on the deck (and probably close to a 9'1" when measured from the bottom). This is important to understand, especially if you are ordering a replacement for your favorite board. Don't just use the measurements written on the stringer or foam, measure the board yourself to get the actual length.

What is Volan cloth? Volan is the fiberglass cloth used on most "Old School" longboards and fishes. It has a very large weave with a slightly greenish tint that looks awesome on a gloss/polish clear, tinted, or pigmented board. Volan will absorb more resin than 6oz cloth, resulting in a heavier and stronger surfboard.
