Handcrafted Surfboards From Hawaii

Regardless if you're a stoked novice or budding pro, whether you like to put your toes on the nose, get deeply pitted, or use the wave simply as a launch pad for your aerial assault, we can put the board of your dreams under your feet.

In this day and age of high tech shaping machines and mass production factories from people in parts of the world that haven't even seen an ocean, we believe that a surfer's greatest stoke comes from working one-on-one with a shaper, both working together to determine what board best meets the surfer's goals.

One wave, one surfer, one board at a time.

About Emerge Surfboards

Each and every Emerge board is hand shaped by Steve Clemons.  Steve has been surfing for over 27 years and shaping boards for over 20 of those.  For many in the industry, surviving is a numbers game - the more boards a shaper can produce, the more likely he or she is to be able to stay in business.  But not for Steve.  "I have a day job as an engineer that pays all of the bills.  The reward of shaping, for me, has always been the stoke I get when somebody tells me how their new board just went off."

Producing as many boards in a year that many shapers produce in a month allows Steve to focus on each individual surfer's needs.  "My goal is to create the best surfboard for your experience, ability, and wave conditions."

Many in the surf industry express concern regarding the typical "backyard" shaper and their disregard for zoning restrictions, as well as the environmental safety and health concerns that accompany shaping, glassing, and sanding surfboards.  Emerge Surfboards is NOT a backyard shaper operation.  We are a low volume operation and complete each of these steps (shaping, glassing, and sanding) at The Factory on the North Shore of O'ahu, which complies with the strictest EPA and OSHA regulations.
